strange that it is mentioned today.
Cos yesterday, was chatting with my sister and I told her
this:
I was the deployment officer for the night at the police station
one time.
So after deploying the officers. I was still seated at the office
and filling in another form for submission to the station Ops
room.
Then I picked up a call. Turns out, it an officer's wife. She
called to ask whether her husband is errrmmmmm.....working tonight
cos he had told her he is.
I was like looking thru the attendance sheets and my deployment and
even my other list which they were to indicate that officers are
interested to be working on those nights.
I dont see that guy name in my lists.
My heart was like 'jia lat'!
So I told her: "Well, i dont have him on my deployment, maybe
because he came in earlier, and I only just came into the office.
He most likely is on the earlier deployed group or the plain
clothes team."
The wife went:"Yah, he wont answer phone calls and he says he is
working tonight!"
So I breathe a sigh of relief and replied: "yah....he could be on a
raid or an ambush and cant answer the phone."
When actual fact, I know that bugger is probably off with his
mistress or g/f at whatever location.
From then onwards, i always throw in a lecture to my new recruits.
You want to lie about it. For heavens sake, let that duty officers
knows how to cover for you first.
